When an urgent dental problem requires immediate attention, we provide emergency dental services both during and after hours (for current patients only during after hours). We will treat you according to the severity of your emergency.

Dental emergencies may result in pain, pressure, discomfort, embarrassment, or frustration. Some dental emergencies include:

  • Broken or fractured tooth
  • Gingival bleeding
  • Knocked out tooth
  • Gum swelling
  • Tooth pain
  • Broken dental work

Below are instructions for handling minor dental emergencies.

In the case of a toothache...

Gently clean the area around the tooth by rinsing the mouth with warm water and gently flossing to remove any particles that may be lodged in the tissue around the tooth. If the pain continues, or if the area around the affected tooth is warm, please call our office to schedule an appointment.

Gum or facial swelling...

There is likely an infection present. The infection must be immediately treated with antibiotics or extraction. Contact Lakeville Dental right away to get much-needed attention before the infection spreads and causes pain.

Mild gum swelling may not be due to an infection but simply to gum disease. We can use deep cleaning processes at Lakeville Dental to restore your gum health. Whether gingivitis or infection is the cause of your swelling, immediate treatment is important to avoid further complications.

A  knocked out tooth...
If your tooth got knocked out, you may be desperate for immediate assistance. The sooner you visit our office, the better chance we have at saving the natural tooth. Place the tooth back into the socket or into a baggie of milk and bring it into our office. We will fill in that space in your smile to protect your smile’s aesthetic and function.
A  broken tooth...

Teeth may break or fracture in various situations. Deep decay or dental trauma is likely to cause breakage in the teeth.

A fractured tooth should be examined right away. Some fractured teeth may be restored with fillings or dental crowns. Severe fractures may need to be treated with root canal therapy or may need to be removed. The earlier you seek help for a fractured tooth, the more conservative treatment will be.

Regardless of the situation, our team is here to respond promptly with effective treatment. We want you to leave our office with a beautiful smile on your face! If you are suffering from toothache or another dental emergency, Give us a call at 952-469-3300.
